Well, we neglected to get our Valentine's love and wishes out in the mail this year but wanted to let you all know how much we love you and give a little report on our celebration.

Ike got a Valentine cookie from the neighbor with so many sprinkles on it, it turned his lips purple!

The kids made Valentines at Polly's house. Colorful yes? Ike loved opening up his bag of Valentine treats which was filled with stickers and chocolate! Macy got these VERY cool sunglasses... Which she opted to wear for the ENTIRE rest of the night. "Hey Ike, you should get your sunglasses on too!" "Good idea sis!"

OK - So I'm a little slow but here are a couple pics of the kids' room. The alphabed art is hanging above the changer between their beds. A couple of these are taken with my phone since the room is so small I couldn't get back far enough with the good camera. I'll let you guess which ones those are.

     

My last project I'm working on finishing up for their room is an attempt at this bird mobile which I think is so darling and recommend to everyone for a fun, fast cute project. The bird pattern is on the left under "free patterns." Who doesn't love free?

slacker

I know - the elf thing is a little old and doesn't even work any longer and still no new post. Well, I've been a blog slacker but I'll get back on track... I promise. My excuse is that ever since the holidays ended I've been in nesting mode and this year's project has been operation kids' room make-over. Not the extreme kind, but the kind where I undertake a bunch of fun but time-consuming projects that I only get to work on in the short windows of time between when the kids are sleeping and when I have to sleep myself. And as Jake will tell you, I need more sleep than the average 34-year-old. These days if I'm not at work or changing a diaper, I'm in the corner of our room my sweet husband let me take-over with my sewing table and sewing maching and as much fabric as our little room will allow for. It's a tiny little creative wonderland and I'm in heaven!

At any rate - I promise to post pictures of the finished project in the next week but until then here are a few of my favorite shots of my most favorite people from the past few weeks:

Happy Holidays

Thanksgiving in Spokane was a great success! First, we all made it there safely. Never mind that I had two kids on an airplane on my own or that Jake had to travel having not slept for over 24 hours. We had a great time with the Lymans. We had lots of babysitters, Ike and Macy got all the attention they could handle and perhaps best of all they got to chase the "kitty cat" around the house all week. I guarantee the cat is breathing a sigh of relief today. We got to see a couple movies, Ike and Macy got to see snow and we had a lot of turkey, sugar cookies and diet coke! See? A successful trip! Thanks to the Lymanite clan for a beautiful Thanksgiving and to Uncle Jared for more great pics!

                                 

Elmo and Friends

Thanks to the University of Phoenix throwing a bunch of money at a stadium near by, well, near by except when you try to get there in rush-hour-traffic, then it's forever away. At any rate, we made it just in time for intermission and the last half of Sesame Street Live just before leaving town for Thanksgiving. We went with our good friends the Ebmeyers and I've never seen Ike and Macy more enthralled than they were at Sesame Street. They loved it so much I wish I could take them every week. Sorry about missing the first half kids. We made it up to them with an Elmo balloon.

     

Happy Anniversary Honey

Here's to four years ago when we were a little younger, a little thinner, and a lot more well rested! I love you through and through. I love your top side, your bottom side, your inside, and outside, your happy side, your sad side, your silly side, your mad side. I love your fingers and toes, your hair and noes, I love you running and walking, silent and talking, I love you through and through yesterday, today and tomorrow too.

skype

I am usually the last person to try out most forms of technology like cell phones, i pods, blogging, space book (I'm going to get on there Nats... SOON! Don't give up on me) and the same is true with  skype. I know it's been around forever and I'm only NOW trying it out but I am SOLD! Tonight while Jake was in school the kids and I got to skype with Papa and Mimi all the way up in Spokane! It was our first time so we had no speaker except for the speaker phone on my cell, the kids could only be seen probably 1/2 the time as they spun around on the computer chair and tore apart my living room during most of the call, Macy almost fell off the chair as I tried to man the phone, the kids and the camera at once, but still I would consider it a successful skype experience and I'll be skyping a lot more! Ike loved seeing his Grandparents and showed them his Halloween book. Macy even waived at the computer screen when she saw Papa and Mimi waiving at her there. When it was all over and time for the bath Ike didn't want the fun to end and kept asking where they had gone. I finally explained that they had to go night night but he wasn't buying that. Finally he asked, "Papa n' Nini take bubble bath?" to which I replied, "Yes, Papa and Mimi had to go take a bubble bath too." Mom and Dad, I hope you enjoyed your bath. I hope you didn't splash and get bubbles and water all over the bathroom floor like your grandkids did. And I hope to see you online again soon!

   

How-a-heen

 I have alwyas loved Halloween time and all that comes with it. I have the best memories of dressing up with my siblings and hitting up the neighborhood for as long as we could stand the cold. Mom, you really outdid yourself with the costumes as I think back to the home-made cabage patch doll costumes and the time I wanted to be Ms. Hannagin from "Annie." As I grew older Halloween was still one of my favorite times. Anyone who attended or lived anywhere near Utah State University knows there is no better party than the USU Halloween Howl and I loved carving pumpkins in our tiny little college apartment and watching "Practical Magic" with my sister and Jesi. Now as I find myself on the other side with little ones of my own, I'm getting my first taste of that holiday excitement as a Mom. Ike could't be more excited for "how-a-heen" this year ever since Polly put up some Halloween decor at her house. I'm not sure he understands what it's all about or that he'll even want to put on the "Thomas the Train" costume he insisted we purchase at Target, but he does recognize all things Halloween and he, like his Mom, loves it all! He loves the pumpkins and the scary guys in the store. He loves the glow-in-the-dark book his dad got for him and reads him at night in the dark. He even loves the Halloween napkins and hates to see them get dirty. Perhaps my favorite part of all is when he tries to explain to his little sister how magical life is at this time of year. "How-a-heen EC - Gug, How-a heen!" he says in such a high voice only dogs can hear. This is fun. These are the moments when I love being a Mom.
